SINGER PUR

Carl Proske’s unique collection of classicalvocal polyphony is an important source offinely wrought a capella music from the 18thcentury and earlier. The vocal sextet Singer Purhas selected a number of treasures from thisrich corpus of works, and their outstanding interpretiveskills allow the music to shine in allits splendor once again. Musica Divina

Since their debut concert in March, 1992, Singer Pur, in their original line-up of five former Regensburg Dompatzen members and one soprano, have developed into one of the leading international a capella groups.
In 1994, the sextet won first prize in the German Music Competition in Bonn and one year later took the Grand Prize for Vocal Music at the International Tampere Music Festival in Finland. They have consolidated their outstanding reputation through many performances, and regularly appear in important concert series and festivals such as the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Ludwigsburg Schlossfestpiele, Rheingau Music Festival, MDR Musiksommer, Festival d›Automne in Paris, and the Venice Biennale Musica. Concert tours have taken the group to some 60 countries over six continents. Highlights in recent years include an appearance at the Elb Philharmonie in Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. They have also devised the artistic project “The Hilliard Ensemble meets Singer Pur” with that well-known British ensemble, singing vocal music for up to ten voices.
Singer Pur has received much coverage in radio and television broadcasts, and their broad repertoire has been documented in many CD recordings, which are like taking a journey through the various epochs of music history.  Two productions of Renaissance music were honoured by the French music magazine Le Monde de la Musique as their best CDs of the year. Singer Pur also received the ECHO Klassik acolade three time, for their recordings of contemporary work written especially for them (2005), for newly arranged German Folk Songs (2007), and for Jeremiah, together with clarinetist David Orlowsky (2011).
In 2008, Singer Pur was given the Regensburg Culture Prize, the highest cultural honour Regensburg, for their tireless international activity as its musical representatives. Other awards and honours include the Bavarian State Prize for Music in 2013, and in 2015 the “Messengers of the Friends of European Choral Music”, a title conferred upon Singer Pur by the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat.
Since 2007, Singer Pur has also been involved in introducing school-age children to classical music, especially with the Rhapsody in School project. The group regularly passes on its vast musical experience in the form of workshops attended by various choirs and vocal groups. Since 2019, they have held their own annual festival of Renaissance music, the Singer Pur Tage on the Adlersberg, a hill in the Harz mountains near their hometown of Regensburg.
