I bought this when it first appeared and listening to it wondered why the hell anyone thought this was a good idea.
It was one thing arranging big orchestral works a century ago when it was virtually the only way to get a hearing - hence the aborted Schoenberg version of Das Lied - but this, as I remember, like the Das Lied as completed, suffers from having a piano to fill in all the textures the rest of the ensemble can't reproduce.
Nicely recorded and sympathetically conducted, but ultimately, IMHO, a waste of everyboyd's time.
